Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to pay an application fee?

The fee is to process your application and secure your observation slot. Each observation takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour, conducted 1-on-1 with a qualified teacher.

What is the observation process like? Do I need to prepare anything?

At Tutor Time, we try to keep our observations as natural as possible so that children do not feel anxious or uneasy throughout the process. Observations usually consist of teachers guiding children through age-appropriate tasks to see how they react and perform. There are no formal interviews for this age group, and parents do not need to prepare anything or participate in the process.

What happens if my child is born after September? When would they start the program?

Admission to Nursery & Kindergarten is on a rolling basis, which means that children born in October can start in October, those born in November can start in November etc. However, since spaces in our Nursery and Kindergarten program are limited, we recommend applying well in advance for a better chance to secure your seat.

What percentage of your current playgroup students continue to your Nursery program?

Usually, about 90% of our Nursery & Kindergarten programs consist of current students. The remaining 10% of spaces is made available to non-Tutor Time families. Current students do not need to complete the observation process since teachers will have records of their development and progress in class.

What if my child has learning difficulties or developmental delays?

Part of the observation process is to assess which areas your child may need more support in. If we believe that Tutor Time can provide suitable support for your child, we will admit them into our program. This decision is based on the school’s discretion.
