Insight From Aurora’s Family

Q: Looking back, what made you choose Tutor Time for?

A: We wanted a bilingual environment, which was fun, nurturing, and fostered creativity. The moment we stepped into Tutor Time Campus, met the teachers, and saw the environment, we knew it would be a wonderful place for Aurora. The staff are all so welcoming, and the school environment – from every section of the classroom to the outdoor playground – is designed to enable the kids to have fun, while learning and exploring.

Q: How do you think Tutor Time prepared your child for primary school? Can you share any interesting stories?

A: Tutor time was instrumental in preparing my daughter for primary school. Firstly, the positive relationships she had with the school staff and teachers enabled her to enter primary school with confidence, knowing that she could approach the teachers and staff in her new school with any questions she had.

Secondly, her social and emotional skills developed tremendously with the support of teachers at Tutor Time. She learnt to understand her emotions, express and manage them, which has helped her build deep friendships and manage difficult situations. I remember that there was a time when Aurora and her best friends at school were upset at each other and said, “I’m not your best friend”. They were very hurt and sad, but with Ms Angel’s help and support, they learnt to express their frustrations better and make up after their disagreements.

Q: What are the most valuable skills your child learnt in Tutor Time?

A: Emotional regulation and social skills. Staying curious. The KWL (Know, Want to Know, Learned) charts also helped foster Aurora’s interest in various topics collectively.

Q: What is the most memorable moment with your child in Tutor Time?

A: As a family, we loved the class parties where we got to meet all the other families. We all became good friends, and our children still communicate with one another, even though some are abroad.

Q: How would you describe Tutor Time’s teachers and staff? What impact did they have on your child?

A: Tutor Time teachers and staff are extremely kind, welcoming, and friendly. As mentioned earlier, it truly enabled Aurora to know that teachers are for her and that school is a safe and fun place.

Aurora Shares Her Experience

Q: What is your favourite memory of Tutor Time?

A: My favourite memory is Fun Fridays, when we get to bring things like teddy bears to school. Also, the first day of school, meeting friends, having performances, and parties like the Halloween party are all so memorable.

Q: What’s your favorite hobby or subject?

A: Gymnastics, music, and English.

Q: What do you think is the most important thing Tutor Time taught you?

A: Chinese writing, social and emotional skills, like being patient, taking turns when speaking, and following teachers’ instructions. But most importantly, understanding my own emotions and calming myself by taking a deep breath when I’m angry or anxious.

Q: Did you face any obstacles when adapting to primary school life? How did you overcome them?

A: I did not face any obstacles adapting to primary school so far, but when I had an interview, I was nervous. But once I saw the teachers and realised they were nice and helpful, I wasn’t nervous anymore.

Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?

A: I don’t know yet, but I want to do something that will help people through art and design, sharing knowledge, and physical activity like gymnastics.
